8 Tips for Getting a Horse During a Zed Run Drop

Zed Run is seeing unprecedented demand for racehorses, and this demand makes it difficult to purchase horses during drops as multiple people compete for the same horse. Thankfully, the drop is now in Matic, so losing gas fees for horses you try but fail to purchase are a thing of the past. As someone who has participated in the last couple of drops, I have gained some tricks to increase my chances of getting horses. So, I’m sharing some tips for getting a horse during a Zed Run drop below. Please note that there really is no sure way to get a horse. Zed Run has been very diligent with improving the drop process, so what may have worked for past drops, may not work for this drop. As always, do your own research and try at your own risk.

1) Be on the website at least 5 minutes before your scheduled drop time
This is just good practice for any NFT drop. Doing this ensures that you have the correct link, have access to the website, and are able to connect your Wallet properly.

2) Instead of refreshing when the countdown ends, let the page automatically load
Zed Run provides a countdown timer for the start of drop time. Previously, refreshing the page right when the timer hits 0 have caused the page to refresh much slower than having it automatically refresh.

3) Filters may or may not work
During the Tera drop, the faster way (or sometimes only way) to have horses load is to use the filters (colors, genotype, etc). However, during the drop before Tera, filters caused horses to not load at all. I would advise to have two browsers open; one where you use the filter, and one where you don’t.

4) Decide how much you are willing to spend, not what horse you want to buy
Before joining the drop, have an amount in mind that you are willing to spend. It is likely that you will not be able to buy the exact horse that you want. For example, if your budget is $400, know that you can purchase a Z8 – Z10 horse, and try for those bloodlines. Specifically aiming to get a Z8 will be much harder, as you will need to scan your screen for Z8 horses, which may take some time.

5) Purchase as soon as you see a horse load on your screen
Zed Drops are wonderfully frantic. Horses sell within seconds. So, if you had the time to read the horse name (or so much as try to figure out what the horse color or gender is), you probably would have already lost the horse. Click and purchase immediately. Do not hesitate. If you still need to prepare and are wondering how much prices for this drop are (which should be the same for the 5/7 Echo Drop, read this article).

6) Load the Zed Run drop on your mobile device
In some cases, drops have been much faster to access on mobile devices. One key trick is to load your Zed Run account up in the built-in browser of the mobile MetaMask app, and access the drop that way. This has the added benefit of streamlining your purchase connection to MetaMask. Remember, during drops, every second counts.

7) Don’t give up!
Sometimes, all the horses you click on may say they have already been purchased. Don’t give up. Keep scrolling and clicking.

8) Join a Zed Run Discord Channel
Misery loves company. But kidding aside, being in a channel where everyone is talking about the same thing makes the experience much more fun. Additionally, you can get updates on the drop or additional tips from fellow Zed Run enthusiasts. You can find me, and other friendly faces, in the Zed Run channel of our NFT Sports server.

The Echo drop is a bit different in that there is a 10-minute cool down for buying, which means everyone in the drop can only purchase one horse in the initial 10 minutes. I predict that horses will still go really fast as there is likely way more buyers than horses for each wave. Good luck, and I hope you get the horse of your dream today!
