This is #4 in a series where I will highlight some of the best young players in the NBA to add to your Top Shot collection who you might not have heard much about. No, I’m not talking about your Lebrons, your Lukas, or your Currys, I’m talking about emerging stars whose popularity should only continue to rise in the years to come.
Terance Mann has just played the best game of his young career. To close out the number one seeded Utah Jazz in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, Mann put up a ridiculous 39 points on 71% shooting while hitting 7 three-pointers.
Mann has been an important piece for the number four seeded Clippers throughout the regular season and has stepped in for the Clippers in the playoffs since Kawhi Leonard went down with an apparent ACL injury. He was instrumental in closing out the Jazz scoring 52 points between Games 5 and 6.
Only averaging 7 points this season, it’s hard to see his potential. However, he shot 50% from the field and 41.8% from three for the season, behind Leonard and Paul George. He only plays 19 minutes a game, but he’s still young, and could be very important for the Clippers once their main stars are older.
My favorite moment of Mann’s just happens to be his only moment. It’s a dunk against the 76ers that shows off his athleticism and lengthy body.
The highlight I’d love to see added as a moment (#NBATopShotThis 🏀) is a putback dunk on DPOY Rudy Gobert. This happened in his 39 point Game 6. It was a great dunk for a great game.
Terance Mann has much to improve, but he could definitely become a solid player someday. Given more opportunities he will continue to improve. He has already clearly proved that he is not afraid of big moments and appears ready to continue helping the Clippers in their championship desires.
